Karbon is decentralized.

Before you touch any checkboxes, understand why this briefing exists. The Karbon platform does not provide statements, summaries, or tax-ready documents. By design. That puts the record-keeping responsibility on you — and your future accountant.

No statements · No tax forms · No reward reports
Karbon does not provide statements, tax documents, or rewards reports. The platform is decentralized by design. You are responsible for recording every NFT purchase, every reward distribution, and every wallet movement in real time. Members who wait until end of financial year to reconstruct their activity struggle — wallet histories aren't always preserved the way bank statements are.
Disclaimer
This briefing is not financial or tax advice. It summarizes guidance one community member's Australian accountant provided in June 2026, organized into a checklist format. Your situation may differ. Confirm everything with your own accountant or registered SMSF auditor before you act. Karbon Collective and Karbon V4 are not authorized financial advisors.

Setup · do once

Naming, everywhere.

Every profile, email, and account connected to SMSF-held Karbon assets must use the SMSF name exactly. Personal-name accounts cannot be reclassified as SMSF at tax time, no matter what the intent was.

Routine · do monthly

The monthly statement.

Tick these off in the first week of every month for the previous month's activity. This is the paper trail your accountant needs and the ATO expects. Twelve passes per year is the bargain — a tax-time reconstruction is not.

Setup · pick one path

Funding the SMSF.

SMSFs cannot hold a credit card directly. Two compliant paths exist. Pick one and tick off the setup steps. The accountant's warning: never mix SMSF and personal funding, even once.

7 items · 2 paths
Path A
Bank account with credit card, in SMSF name.
Transfer SMSF funds into a separately-held standard bank account that has a credit card attached. Use only for SMSF transactions. Never mix with personal banking.
Path B
Buy USDC, use stablecoin for NFT purchase.
Purchase USDC on a regulated exchange, transfer to a wallet in the SMSF name, use it to buy NFTs. Cleanest audit trail. Higher learning curve up front.
